THE ANNOYANCE

I bought a delay pedal to play songs like “Big Sur Moon” and “Rain,” but quickly got tired of the cable mess between the amplifier, the delay, and the digital FX pedal I already owned.

Each device needed its own power connection, and setting everything up every time I played became more annoying than it needed to be.

02

THE DESIGN

Commercial pedalboards felt too expensive and too large for my setup, so I designed a compact three-piece assembly sized specifically for the pedals I owned.

Velcro allows the pedal positions to remain modular, while zip ties keep signal and power cables routed cleanly underneath and around the board.

03

MAKING IT

I brought my own wood into the IMSA robotics lab and used the project as an opportunity to learn the CNC mill. After machining the pieces, I spray-painted them and assembled the final board.

Mounting points underneath also secure a power strip, making the whole setup much easier to plug in, move, and use.

SMALL PROJECT, LOTS OF USE

The finished pedalboard solved exactly the problem I built it for: everything stays together, cable clutter is controlled, and setting up takes much less time.

It was also one of my first projects using CNC machining for something I had designed myself, and it has stayed useful long after the build was finished.
